I really recommend this place all facilities are there: bikes, summing pool, Friendly animal and pets The place photos show on the web do not actually reflect the real world of the place- the real place is much much better than photos The young lead (the owner) is awesome and very polite
I've stayed at Lee Farm Stay cottages five times in recent years, the most recently last week. Sometimes I've been there for work as a writer's retreat and sometimes for relaxation. At all times I've found the cottages clean, comfortable and well-appointed. Host Gavina has an eye for detail. The kitchen has a fridge, hot plates and microwave. There's a BBQ outside. The bathroom includes a spa bath. Closest shops are in Kingaroy, only 10 minutes drive.
We are travelling with our dog through Queensland, and were looking for accommodation in the cou try came across Lee Farm Stays. What a wonderful find. There are five fully self contained cottages with every thing you could ask for. Everything is very clean and tidy. The host Gavina was a perfect host, she showed us around the farm , while she fed all the animals, great for kids to see all the baby ducks ,chickens puppies, calves, etc. There is a pool you can swim in, to cool off after a hot day. Kingaroy is only 15 minutes aways. Gavina baked us amazing bread, to have with our hearty breakfasts she supplied at a little extra cost . Thank you for the experience Gavina . Carol and Joy lake macquarie NSW.
Thoroughly enjoyed a lovely few days with a group of 9 in the Queenslander. Our host was just getting over the death of her husband & is trying to continue their dream of running the cottages. Breakfasts were more than enough & the hot loaves of bread were very delicious. Country atmosphere was great & the house offered everything you needed. Fire place & A/C were very welcome. Cottages very roomy & accommodate 5/6. Certainly will tell friends about it & hope to return.
We recently stayed in the Queenslander at Lee Farmstay and had a wonderful weekend. We did not venture far from the farm but enjoyed our time in the peaceful farm surrounds. The house comortably sleeps 8 people and would be very suitable for a family get together or other group weekend away. The house was well equipped with kitchen utensils, BBQ and blankets etc. It was clean and there was no noise from the other cabins. We enjoyed a wine on the verandah watching the sun go down followed by a very clear starry sky
We stayed in the 3 bedroom Queenslander Cottage for 3 nights with our 4 year old daughter and 2 dogs. The cottage was spacious, clean and very well appointed. Gavina our host could not have been more welcoming and delightful and we very much enjoyed our stay. The freshly baked bread delivered to our door each morning was a real treat too. Our daughter especially liked helping to feed the Chickens & Pigs each day before we headed out for a variety of excursions in the surrounding countryside. Would stay there again happily.
We stayed here for 2 nights with our 6 month old. It was a great launching pad for a day trip through the South Burnett region – with plenty of small villages/towns, vineyards and drives. It's perfect for families with young kids. The cabin and property had good facilities but nothing too flash. In the cabin - wood fire (although you will need to pay $10 for firewood), kitchen, laundry and spa. On the property – variety of animals, barbeque areas, hay shed to ensure the kids have plenty of feed to attract the animals. The cabins felt private, with plenty of space between each one, but close enough that the farm stay would suit a group of families travelling together. Some minor improvements would make the stay even better – more modest door between the bathroom and living area, staff more readily available and visible, firewood provided at no cost and newer furnishings.
If you're looking for a quiet escape where there is plenty of room for the kids to run around, or as a base to explore the Scenic Rim then Lee Farm Stay is lovely. We stayed in the three bedroom Queenslander with another family and there was plenty of room. The spa baths were a lovely bonus. It is great to be able to get away and have a self contained cottage waiting, complete with decent pots and pans. Two wineries are within a short drive, and 40 minutes up the road are more wineries and the wonderful Irish Pub at Dusty Hill winery. We didn't get as much of a hands on farm experience as we'd hoped as we only met one of the owners on check in. The farm experience is limited to animal feeding twice a day and this was led by two overseas born travellers. These girls were lovely but not ideal hosts e.g. they told the children that "the lambs do not have names because we would be sad when we kill them". There are also five dogs on the property that are not well behaved e.g. jumping on the children and attacking another guest's dog. Our BBQ was unfortunately out of gas, and this was a very disappointing find on our last evening. I would go back for the clean, comfortable and well priced accommodation, but I would not go for the farm experience. This is a shame as I think a little bit more effort could make it a more family friendly experience.
We stayed with 2 other families for 3 nights. We have 3 children (5,3 & 8mnths). Each family had their own 2 bedroom cottage which was spacious, clean and well appointed, which meant that we had our own space if desired. All 4 cottages plus the house are in close proximity meaning the kids could easily move between cottages and the communal eating areas were great for meals and getting together. The farm itself was perfect for the children. Farmhands Ronnie and Gracey were terrific with the kids and helped them with feeding all of the animals including chooks, ducks, turkeys, pigs, sheep, horses, parrots, guinea pigs and dogs plus collecting eggs and other farm jobs. We were very lucky to have 2 lambs born during our stay which thrilled the little ones. The farm is less than 10km from Kingaroy and in close proximity to wineries and other attractions for the adults. The kids were able to roams around during the day with bikes, trampolines, swings and the fire and marshmallow toasting at night were all winners. Farm owner Gavina was always on hand to help us with any questions we had, and was a big part of making the stay so enjoyable. Highly recommended for those with younger children, although the peace and quiet would also suit a couple looking to get away from it all for a few days. We will definitely be returning to stay again, the kids are already counting down the days
We stayed for the weekend with our two children (8 and 2) and two dogs (12 and 1 - Maltese and maltese-x) It was a winner for everyone. Spacious, clean and well appointed two bedroom cottage. Our girls loved the farm routine and roasting marshmallows. I enjoyed the lovely lunch at The Captain's Paddock vineyard. Dogs basked in the walk to the dam. Husband relaxed under the bright night stars. Definitely recommend!
This was our first time with a farm stay and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The farm itself has a menagerie of birds, horses, cattle, pigs and sheep which I suppose is what makes it a farm. The cottage had everything you would need and I recommend buying the firewood to keep the rooms warm
Fantastic place for a get away from hustle and bustle of everyday life. Wonderful for family with children &/or teenagers. I think any time of year is ideal as fire place in winter to air con in summer. We stayed in the Queenslander and one of the cottages. My daughter and son-in-law in the cottage said it was lovely and they are definitely coming back- this from a confessed city slicker. I have special needs children and they all had a ball from riding around on the push bikes provided to feeding the lambs, patting the ponies, swinging on the swings and jumping on the trampoline. The resident dogs also are a source of entertainment. Fresh air, lovely area, close to Kingaroy township to pick up the essentials if needed. We were only suppose to stay for two nights but so loved it we rearranged plans at home so we could stay another night. Higly recommended!!!
Our perfect little 2 bed house includes fully equipped kitchen (everything in working order, clean and fresh), spacious bathroom with spa and a lots of clean fluffy towels and the comfiest beds i have ever slept in. Big windows open to endless fields and sky. My 10 year old loved feeding animals 2 x perday and spent most of the time inbetween either playing with the pups and kittens or joining the farm hands with simple tasks. There are shops and activities in the region but we prefered staying on the farm. We happen to be there to see fruit picked and cooked for preserves one day, a calf butchered the next. The sheep are all pregnant - would love to get back to see The lamb arrive. We surrendered to the rythm of the farm and came home utterly recharged.
We were travelling to Toowoomba and found it extremely difficult to get accomodation over the new Queens Birthday Weekend, not realising that the South Burnett had heaps of activities on. I chose the farm stay as we had our young grandson with us. The two bedroom house was well equipped, and overlooked the cow paddocks and sheep runs. My grandson quickly made friends with all the other children, and they all enjoyed the afternoon feeding time and collecting the eggs for breakfast. A nice touch. I met Kevin and he should write a book about his memoirs! Would be a best seller.
We went with our 5year old daughter and two other families with young children. The kidshad a great time feeding the animals...twice a day, and plucking some fruit from the farms. The cottages were well done, and the spa was an added bonus! Overall, an excellent holiday, and we plan to make this an annual event.
We've just stopped at the Blackbutt bakery (don't miss it) on the way home from our second stay at Lee Farm. Kevin and Govina are the perfect hosts and remembered us from our first stay a couple of years ago. This time we stayed in the beautifully fit out Queenslander with the best outlook on the property. Our 4 and 5 year old kids couldn't get enough of the animals- especially a 4 week old kitten that could easily have been smuggled back to Brisbane if they had their way. For the adults, the excellent Crane Wines and Captains Paddock are just down the road. As were there on ANZAC day, they didn't open until 1 pm. After eating lunch in Kingaroy, we were annoyed with our choice (Subway) when we saw the platters come out at Crane- we will be back for some of that action. With a couple of bottles if wine in tow, we settled back at the Queenslander for a great BBQ on the front deck. Next morning, the Kids were off exploring and we got to enjoy breakfast in peace. Thanks Kevin and Govina, you're a credit to the South Burnett hospitality sector. We'll definitely be back and bring some friends to experience what we believe is a SE Qld tourism gem
My 5yr old daughter and I had a wonderful time staying for 7 nights at Lee Farm Stay. Keving and Gavina were very friendly and welcoming. My daughter was up at first light each day getting ready for feeding (which isn't until 8am) and then ready for 4pm feeding, she didn't want to miss out. It was lovely and relaxing for me and my daughter couldn't get enough of the animals. I noticed all the animals look very healthy and happy and loved the attention from the kids and all the feeding - especially the Clydsdale Max. We have already booked for another stay - we definitely recommend Lee Farm Stay for a holiday. Amanda
We stayed here for one night and it was absolutely fabulous, enjoyed it immensley. Will definitely be returning.
